Lamar County is bound by Covington County on the north, Forrest County on the east, Pearl River County on the south, Marion County on the West, and Jefferson Davis County to the northwest. Cities located in Lamar County include Hattiesburg (which is mostly in Lamar County), Lumberton (which is partly in Pearl River County), and Purvis, which is the county seat.
